While Sabathia pitched incredible after the trades, he was only in 17 games. I can't realistically compare that to a guy who played in 148 games (or more).

As far as the Cy Young, Tim Lincecum deserved it. He pitched as well as Sabathia on one of the worst teams in the NL. I don't usually use wins as a way to judge performance from pitching, but if a guy can win 18 games for a team that only won 72, that's pretty impressive.

The star players are not expected to take a drug and enjoy with a woman when they are committed for their duty to play.

Completely disagree with both the vote and your assertion that Sabathia didn't pitch enough to deserve the award. Sabathia damn near singlehandedly carried the Brewers into the postseason. To be jobbed out of both the MVP and Cy Young is unconscionable.

I guess the most important thing is not to judge this deal on 11/11. If the A's do nothing else of substance to address their awful offense, then I'll remained puzzled. If they can address their gaping holes on the left side of the infield OR find ways to upgrade a couple of spots in the lineup...we'll see.

Problem is the A's pitching has questions marks up and down the rotation. Duchscherer still has never pitched a full season as a starter. When Sean Gallagher is your #2 starter as of today...yikes.

2 things - I've read other places that his adjusted OPS wouldn't change as much as his splits. You figure he plays 30-40 games in SF, LA, and SD; 2 of those 3 are more pitchers parks than Oakland (with LA being near the same). He also didn't hit well in Arizona, which I don't understand. Think about what he'll do with 10 or so games in Texas...

I read an article that Oakland's owner is tired of losing and he's ready to expand payroll this season by up to $30MM. Adding Holliday, a starter, and a new closer, and they could be close to making up those dozen games.

Beane has been on records saying they will not be moving Holliday, even at the deadline. I'll believe that when I see it. I have heard rumors that the Rox could move Street to St. Louis.

Ok, I don't believe he was JUST trying to get out of the way as they claim. I mean lifting his arm to protect himself is one thing...but he lowered his shoulder into him!
