Bryant to Pass on Surgery

LOS ANGELES — Lakers star Kobe Bryant will not have surgery on his right pinkie because recovery would take too long.
Bryant has played with damaged ligaments in the finger since February, but said Tuesday that he won’t have surgery after seeking opinions from hand specialists.

76ers Extend Coach

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia 76ers coach Maurice Cheeks on Tuesday agreed to another contract extension following a season in which his team made the playoffs.
He agreed to a one-year contract extension in February that took him through the upcoming season.

March Madness heroes Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur were thrown out of the NBA’s rookie transition program on Wednesday morning after being caught in their hotel room with marijuana and women, according to several sources.
“They were sent home for violating program rules,” NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre said.
